The Lincoln Memorial and Inscription

I always found it a bit profound that the inscription refers to a "temple"...

Must have had a few "God-Fearing" people around at the time, eh?

I loved going there at sunset

(the only thing that tosses a damper on beinbg there are all the airliners flying low overhead)

Other than that...it's a fantastic experience.

Now, quick...name the movie where an alien visitor takes a young boy to the Memorial and he ponders the words...
(extra points if you can name the actors that played both the visitora and the boy)

Thanks for the peek into a great memorial for a great man.

Dear Bob,
To me it ALWAYS feels like a temple. And they don't let airliners fly by it now--too close to the White House.

The Jefferson Memorial though, is somewhat another story.

I don't know the Movie! Readers, it's a Quiz!!

Thanks for writing in!

It is a temple, perhaps to transcendence. There just are no words for what it meant to me to visit that space. Sadly, I do not recall off the top of my head the movie that Bob referenced! I'll have to look it up.
